On 16th August 2023 in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka at the Provincial Department of Education, Eastern Province, PIMD President, Donna Vaughan presented an award to Mr Samsudeen Lafeer, the recently retired Principal from Al-Madina Vid. in Trinco. The award was from Rotary International and is called the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, named after the founder of Rotary International. This award is made to people who make a significant contribution to their community and to bringing people together and promoting community harmony. We have know Mr Lafeer since 2011. His work at Al-Madina and the great respect held for him by all who knew him became known to my Rotary Club in Australia and they decided to sponsor this award for Mr Lafeer. We wish Mr Lafeer a long and happy retirement and thank him from the bottom of our hearts for all he has done for his school community over the years.
